About

I'm Mike, a consultant statistical software engineer specializing in R, with a background spanning sports biomechanics and psychology. My master's research examined the endocrinological stress response in elite downhill mountain bikers, and I've since worked as a biomechanics lab technician and lecturer before transitioning to software engineering.

Between The Tape brings this analytical lens to mountain biking. While traditional cycling media excels at storytelling and product coverage, there's space for data-driven analysis that goes deeper into performance, equipment, and racing dynamics.

I maintain editorial independence by choosing projects based on technical interest rather than industry relationships. No sponsored content, no undisclosed partnerships.
